The key to reenabling the port was to first issue a "shutdown" command and then a "no shutdown" on the given interface port. WebThe issue is being triggered by the 2960X receiving the keepalive traffic that it is sending out. Keepalive traffic is an Ethernet frame where source and destination MAC address are both set to the 2960X interface mac address. Somehow this traffic is coming back to the 2960X and triggering the err-disable.

WebFeb 20, 2014 · The only reason to use a separate port on the 2960 would be to connect it to a separate switch/router/RAS etc. so if both core switches were unavailable you could still get to the servers (assuming the 2960 switch was still up). So, if all your SVIs are configured on the 2960x, you just need a vlan with an SVI configured as access mode connected to the router. On the router, you only need an IP address. Also, make sure your 2960x supports inter-vlan routing as these switches are natively layer-2 only.
