WebNov 14, 2024 · The museum property began as the Liberal Army Air Field, built in 1942, during World War II. The purpose of it was to train pilots on the B-24 Bomber, also known as the B-24 Liberator. The air field ran from 1942 to 1945. During that time they trained 5500 pilots. It closed down in 1945 when the B-24 became obsolete.
