It's the little rubber boot switch located driver side on top of the radiator corner. My remote start stopped working and I could not figure out why, the diesel tech checked the hood switch, and it failed. So you'd need to short out the plug wires to simulate the hood being closed. It would be worthwhile doing that if only to test the switch's operation out. The switch is also sealed, so it shouldn't be affected by moisture.
