WebFlight. Flight ability ranges widely across the aquatic Hemiptera. One the one hand, some groups are strong fliers capable of long-distance dispersal to new habitats (most Belostomatidae, Corixidae, and Notonectidae; some Gerridae), whereas other taxa lack functional wings (some Gerridae, including the marine water strider Halobates) or … WebClassification of rotifer feeding guilds is difficult. In addition, for phytoplankton, the classification into functional groups poses problems leading to erroneous classifications ; therefore, Zhang et al. proposed a method to derive habitat-specific phytoplankton templates. We suggest that rotifers prosper in environments where their feeding ...

WebSep 2, 2014 · The classification of functional feeding groups of aquatic insects is often misleading in tropical/subtropical streams because their feeding habits are assumed to be the same as their temperate counterparts according to the mouthpart structure and foraging behavior. This study aimed to examine the diets and preferences of mayfly grazers …
WebDec 10, 2024 · Water quality and macroinvertebrate community data were collected across two seasons from 18 sites in two different stream order categories (i.e. 1, 2 + 3), following standard methods. We separated macroinvertebrates into functional feeding groups (FFGs), which we then used to assess the effects of riparian condition on FFG organization. Webfunctional feeding group (FFG) in Bogak, Kerian and Serdang rivers of Kerian River Basin showed that there were 120 genera from 59 families of 13 orders of macroinvertebrates. Predator mainly Odonata, Hemiptera and Coleoptera was the most common group and found in high densities in Bogak River (modified river) and Kerian River (main river).
