WitrynaThe herring is a pelagic fish, and may be found anywhere between 2 and 400 m below the surface of the sea. The female herring lays its eggs on the sea bed, usually in water 10-80 m deep, on hard ground covered with small stones, shells or seaweed to which the naturally sticky eggs can attach themselves. One female may lay 20,000-40,000 eggs.
