I found that number 7 bohn needdle work with pearl cotton, or three strands of regular embroidery thread, or number 12 wonderfil or aurifil threads.. i did not have these needles on my first try so used an applique needle and regular quilting thread on the outside edge....easier on the hands and joints. radio ekstra zagreb
