Physiological rationale
Webb2 apr. 2024 · This chapter discusses the concept of four distinct (but not mutually exclusive) resuscitation phases and physiological rationale behind differences in fluid strategies in these phases. In the resuscitation phase, goal is to rapidly restore intravascular volume to prevent imminent danger to life. Webb31 juli 2024 · Recognizing the risk of hypotension due to induction agents and/or transition to positive pressure ventilation, fluid administration prior to intubation has a reasonable physiological rationale. Vasodilation from induction agents may be offset, and venous return to the heart can be increased even amid increased intrathoracic pressure.
