I'd try again, but before you do delete the folder in C:\Users\[USER]\Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV\ to get the client to reset.. just in case it's a messed up setting. Barring that, I'd verify the cache. "Powerful Antivirus" doesn't mean much. :P Uninstalling and re-installing worked.
